The Dominican Republic was chosen as “The Best Golf Destination of the Caribbean 2017” during the recently held World Golf Awards, popularly known as the Oscars of the golf industry. The country features world-class golf courses designed by Pete Dye, P.B. Dye, Jack Nicklaus, Robert Trent Jones, Gary Player and Tom Fazio.
The awards presentation was organized by the “La Manga Club” and the event held at the Prince Phillip the Fifth Hotel in Spain, which was also recognized as the best golf facility in that European nation.
In the Dominican Republic, the Playa Dorada Golf Course – in the country’s north coast – was distinguished as the best golf facility in the country. The country’s best hotel was the Barcelo Bavaro Palace Deluxe, in Punta Cana.
At the same time, the “Ameropa Golf Vacations” tour operator was distinguished as the best golf tour operator in the D.R. In 2016, the country received – for a third year in a row – the award for the “Best Golf Destination in the Caribbean” by the World Golf Organization.
The Teeth of the Dog Golf Course, situated in the Casa de Campo resort and designed by Pete Dye, came is as the top golf course in the Caribbean and in the 42nd position in the list of the top 100 golf courses in the world.
There are 28 five-star golf courses in the D.R. and all meet the highest design standards and the best customer service. Other top golf courses in the country: the Punta Espada Golf Club en Cap Cana; La Cana in Puntacana Resort & Club, and the Dye Fore, also in Casa de Campo.
