The number of Russian tourists visiting the Dominican Republic during the first 10 months of 2017 jumped to 196,153, an increase of 112.3% in comparison to the same period in 2016.
Currently, Russia is the third European country with the highest number of tourists visiting the Dominican Republic. Germany and France occupy the first slots.
Approximately 182,449 Russian tourists visited the country through Punta Cana’s international airport.
Other entry points are the north coast Puerto Plata and El Catey airports, Santo Domigo’s Las Americas airport, La Romana – in the eastern region – and Santiago’s international airport, in the country’s central region.
According to the Dominican Ministry of Tourism this healthy growth in the number of Russian tourists visiting the country has to do with the significant drop in airfare and in the introduction of direct flights between Russia and various Dominican airports.
The services and facilities provided to the Russian tourists have, according to experts, met all the expectations of the Russian tourists.
