Punta Cana: One of the World’s Most Visited Cities

Punta Cana, situated in the country’s eastern region and considered one of the Caribbean’s top tourism destination, is ranked 57th on the list of the world’s most visited cities, according to Euromonitor International of the World Travel Market, one of the world’s top tourism fairs.

The fair was held this past November in London.

During the January-October period of this year some three million tourists arrived through Punta Cana’s international airport.

That number represents 67.7% of all tourists who visited the country through its various local airports.

Punta Cana is a world-class tourism destination and the Caribbean’s most popular destination. It currently boasts 40,000 rooms and all hotels have access for the physically impaired.

In the last few years it has become a favorite destination for important worldwide personalities, such as former U.S. President Bill Clinton and his wife Hillary, famed actor Michael Douglas and former U.S. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger.

Because of its world-class golf courses and beaches, Punta Cana is distinguished on an annual basis for its high-quality services. Last year’s Travellers´Choice Awards 2016, issued annually by Tripadvisor, Punta Cana headed the list of the Caribbean’s top-10 destinations.
