Tourism Sector activates a prevention and safety protocol to face eventual track of the hurricane Maria

SANTO DOMINGO.- Tourism sector informed it began to apply all the prevention and safety protocol in the different destinies in the Dominican Republic, in order to face the threaten of hurricane Maria, which might touch the national territory on Thursday at dawn.

Thus it was announced by the Ministry of Toruism and the Hotel and Tourism Association of the Dominican Republic (ASONAHORES), after meeting to adopt as many measures as necessary for the eventual impact of the atmospheric phenomenon,

“Since this very moment, we have started to apply all the prevention and safety protocols at the hotel settlements and tourism poles in the Dominican Republic”, asserted the Minister of Tourism, Francisco Javier García.

Likewise, the officer recommended the population to be attentive to the warnings from the Operation and Emergency Center (COE) about hurricane Maria.

The Minister of Tourism highlighted the strict follow-up given by President Danilo Medina to the phenomenon in order to ensure its impact on the population results to be minimal and does not produce any victims.

President to ASONAHORES, Joel Santos, said “each hotel settlement and region associations know what they have to do to make sure that this type of atmospheric phenomenon has the least possible negative impact, following the national and international protocols”.

He stated that the most important is life preservation, for which the sector shall not skimp any kind of efforts to adopt the necessary measures.
