Puerto Plata’s Amber Cove Port, the most important cruise ship port in the country’s north coast, registered a 42.4% increase in the number of arrivals during the first semester of 2017.
Overall, 85 cruise ships with 333,527 tourists on board, visited the beautiful Atlantic coastline of the Dominican Republic.
The port of La Romana, in the country’s eastern region, registered a total of 284,664 cruise ship travelers, a 21.4% increase in relation to the same time period in 2016.
The ports of Don Diego and Sans Souci in Santo Domingo, the capital city, processed 92,780 cruise passengers during the same time period.
During this same time period in 2016, the number registered reached 48,024.
Both ports received cruise ships from the following companies and tour operators: Aida,TUI, Costa, Pullmantur and Carnival. Tour operators have announced that other cruise ships are expected during the second semester: Thompson, Viking Sea and Star Flyer.
