International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Highlights Work Carried Out by the Dominican Authorities to Strengthen Border Controls in the Caribbean Region

The Dominican Republic was selected by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) as a model for the “Project to Strengthen Border Control Management in the Caribbean Region.”

An international technical mission recently visited the Dominican Republic to evaluate the various institutions working with airport and port security, as well as border region issues.  The final goal of the evaluations carried out is to put together a guide on best practices on border control issues, which it will make available once completed to all ICAO-member nations.

Melvin Cintron, ICAO Director for North, Central America and the Caribbean headed the delegation, accompanied by Karine Boulet, Nicholas Southon and Richard Hurray.
