The Russian airline Azur Air Limited will fly from Yekaterinburg-Koltsovo to Punta Cana, and from Moscow to La Romana, both situated in the country’s eastern region. LLC Norwind, another Russian airline, will fly from Moscow to Punta Cana and Puerto Plata, the north coast’s most important city.
Currently, the Russian airlines Katekavia, Rossiya, Nord Wind and Pegas Fly carry out regular charter flights from Russian to the Dominican Republic.
This year some 120,508 Russian tourists traveled to the D.R. through its international airports.
In 2016, Russia occupied the third slot in the number of European tourists traveling to the D.R., with 136,249 visitors.
Galapagos Airlines will also begin to cover the Quito – Punta Cana route, while Inter-Caribbean Airways will travel from the Eastern Caribbean to Santo Domingo. Southwest Airlines also announced that it will begin flying between Fort Lauderdale and Punta Cana.
