The Dominican Republic’s second annual XTerra Barahona Triathlon will be held August 13 in the country’s southwest region, near the beautiful Casa Bonita Tropical Lodge. Participants will compete in various categories, such as triathlon and trail run, mountain bike, running and swimming in open waters.
XTERRA is a world leader in the organization of off-the-road events in Europe, Asia and Latin America.
The distance required for experienced athletes will be swimming 1.5 kilometers in open waters, 25 kilometers in mountain cycling and a 10 kilometer marathon.
The event will distribute more than seven thousand U.S. dollars for winners in the Elite category.
The Sprint category will include swimming 750 meters in open waters, 15 kilometers in mountain cycling and a five-kilometer marathon.
The trial run category includes 21, 10 and five kilometer races for participants between the ages of 15 to 70 and over. The same for the Elite/Professional categories.
XTERRA Barahona will also generate points for the Pan-American championship to be held in Utah, and participants will be guaranteed a space in the world championship, scheduled to be held in Maui, Hawaii.
