The Ibero-American Academy of Gastronomy and the Dominican Academy of Gastronomy recently presented the decree that officially names the city of Santo Domingo as the “Capital of the Gastronomic Culture of the Caribbean 2017-2018.”
The decree recognizes the country’s exquisite top gastronomic culture.
The awards were issued during the “SDQ Gastronómico 2017,” a top-culinary festival where national and international chefs presented their best creations. The Festival organizers recognized the following restaurants: Bottega Fratelli, Shibuya and The Times. In the “Best Hotel Restaurant” category, “The Market” of the Intercontinental Real Santo Domingo received top honors.
Special mentions: Victoria by Porter House and Travesias Restaurants in Santo Domingo and the “Dos Mundos” Restaurant of the Hodelpa Hotel.
Also distinguished: the JW Marriott and Crowne Plaza restaurants for their cold and hot tapas, respectively.
