The number of international visitors traveling to the D.R. during the first trimester grew by 4.8%, compared to the same period in 2016.
This percentage represents 1,495,249 international visitors, in comparison to the 1,427,088 that arrived during the same time period in 2016.
Approximately 61% of visiting tourists are from North America; 24.9% from Europe; 10.4% from South and Central America, and 3.4% from the Caribbean.
The number of European tourists registered the most significant growth, with an additional 49,761 additional passengers, for a 15.4% growth. Russia also registered significant increases (38,172), as did France (5,449), England (3,825) and Switzerland (2,248).
During the month of March alone, 524,049 tourists entered the country through its international airports.
At the same time, the number of foreign non-residents registered a healthy increase of 5.1%, representing an additional 25,314 tourists.
Of this number, 65.1% were tourists from North America, 22.7% from Europe, 8.5% from South America, and 3.4% from Central America and the Caribbean.
