The Gregorio Luperon International Airport (AIGL), in the north coast city of Puerto Plata, was recently ranked first on the list of the “Best Airports Providing Services to More than Two Million Passengers in Latin America and the Caribbean,” prepared by the Airport Service Quality (ASQ) 2016 survey of the Airports Council International (ACI).
The ASQ Awards are awarded to those airports whose customers have expressed great satisfaction over the services received during the year.
Monika Infante, general manager of “AeropuertosDominicanosSiglo XXI,” the operator of the terminal, said that this recognition places the city of Puerto Plata – and the Dominican Republic – in a prominent spot on the list of world airport system.
The parent company of “AeropuertosDominicanos” is the French-based company VINCI Airports.
ASQ is the only worldwide survey given to passengers at the airport on their travel day. Each year the company surveys some 600,000 passengers in 41 languages and in 84 countries.
The survey questions passengers on 34 key performance indicators, including airport access, check-in procedures at airline counters, security processes, restrooms, shops and restaurants.
