Many local hotels are continuing to offer and improve attractive family vacation packages that include children under 12 years of age.
Between 2012 and 2016 children made up four percent of all tourists visiting the Dominican Republic, and that number continues to grow (except for the year 2013, when growth was negative).
In January 2017, the number of children visiting the country jumped from 20.7 thousand to 29.7 thousand.
This positive increase has been greatly encouraged by the various family packages offered by all-inclusive hotels in the country.
All provide families with children-friendly facilities, including special clubs and entertaining for the little ones.
Some hotels also feature water parks, specifically the Memories Splash Punta Cana, operatedby the Blue Diamond Resorts chain of hotels, recognized in 2016 byTripadvisor as the best hotel in the region for family vacations.
The Barceló Palace Deluxe and The Sirenis Hotel also offer special facilities for children.
In 2016, the Nickelodeon Hotels & Resorts opened in Punta Cana, the first hotel of this brand to open outside the United States.
The luxury all-inclusive facility, with 208 suites, offers a diversity of activities, including children’s participation in activities with characters from Nickelodeon’s television programming.
