Two Cruise Ships Bring More than 7,000 Tourists to Dominican North Coast

More than 7,000 visitors from the U.S. and other countries arrived in one day alone at the Amber Cover cruise terminal, situated outside the north coast city of Puerto Plata, the largest in the country’s north coast.

The international visitors arrived on board the “Princess Regal” and the “Carnival Vista” cruise ships.

The cruise ships, two of the Carnival line’s most important ships, arrived at the cruise port at approximately 6:00 a.m.

The “Regal Princess” had 4,374 passengers while the “Carnival Vista”had 3,617.  The ships were coming in from New York and Miami.

In general, some 353 ships – with 579,393 passengers – visited the ports Santo Domingo, Puerto Plata, La Romana and Samana between January-October.

La Romana was the second most visited cruise port during the January-October 2016 period, with 241,826 passengers and 89 ships.

The two terminals of Santo Domingo (Don Diego and Sans Souci) received a total of 53,605 passengers while Samana greeted 28,146 passengers.
