Five Top Hotels Undergo Major Renovations

Top hotels Catalonia Santo Domingo, Occidental’s “El Embajador,” the Coral Costa Caribe, Viva Wyndham Tangerine and the Barceló Punta Cana underwent major changes in their overall structures, while two changed their names.

Catalonia Santo Domingo

The 228-room Catalonia Santo Domingo (formally the Hilton Santo Domingo) has been completely refurbished through a three million dollar investment. The hotel features 400 parking spaces and 1,100 square meters in spaces for social events and corporate meetings.

“El Embajador” Occidental Hotel

The Spanish Barceló Hotels and Resort chain announced that it will invest US$21.5 million in the overall remodeling the facility, one of the oldest and most distinguished of the capital city of Santo Domingo.

The first reconstruction phase will include all 278 rooms. In the second phase, the hotel’s social areas will be completely refurbished. The five-star “El Embajador” Occidental Hotel is a five-star facility strategically situated in one of Santo Domingo’s most important neighborhoods.

It features tennis courts, meeting and social rooms that can accommodate up to 600 guests, three restaurants, casino, gymnasium, spa and business center. It is a member of the Preferred Hotels & Resorts, a luxury network of hotels that operates in 85 destinations, eight of them in the Caribbean.

Coral Costa Caribe

The Coral Costa Caribe Resort & Spa recently launched a full renovation process of its facility, which is expected to conclude in the upcoming winter season.

Situated right on the beautiful Caribbean coast line, in the village of Juan Dolio, the hotel is some 20 minutes east of Las Americas International Airport and approximately one hour west of the Punta Cana and La Romana airports.

The 416-room hotel offers beautiful views of the beach and the surrounding lush gardens. It is an excellent family-oriented destination, featuring six bars, five restaurant, three swimming pools, two jacuzzis, tennis courts, basketball, volleyball, gymnasium, mini-golf, sports bar, evening entertainment and disco.

Viva Wyndham Tangerine

The Viva Wyndham Tangerine recently reopened after undergoing a US$9.5 million renovation process. The hotel is now featuring a brand new room category, the “All Together Rooms,” with capacity for five guests, the perfect option for vacationing families.

The hotel now features the new “Melt” Restaurant, with a special Fusion menu featuring some of the world’s best dishes. All other restaurants were also refurbished: “La Bahía” Buffett Restaurant, the “Viva México,” and the Italian “La Vela” Restaurant.

The all-inclusive 273-room Viva Wyndham Tangerine is situated in Cabarete Beach, on the beautiful north coast of the Dominican Republic, just 30 minutes from Puerto Plata’s international airport.

Barceló Punta Cana

This 798-room facility has a new name: the Occidental Caribe Hotel. Owned by the Barceló Hotel Group features seven restaurants, bars, water sports facilities, and a water park.
