The six-star facility won first place in the luxury category, in an annual event sponsored by the international CEMEX construction company.
The “Amanera Playa Grande” facility belongs to the Aman chain of hotels, known for its super luxury boutique hotels all situated in destinations of exceptional beauty. The hotel recently opened its doors in the Dominican Republic.
The facilities distinguished with the award were designed and developed by Renan Vanderhorst, Isaac Vanderhorst and Roberto Ruiz, of the Vanderhorst & Asociados construction firm.
The hotel is situated in the breathtakingly beautiful “Playa Grande” hotel, on the country’s north coast, and just 90 minutos from Puerto Plata’s international airport and 60 minutos from Samana’s airport, situated on the northeast región.
This facility is the second Aman to open in the Caribbean, and the chain’s first complex that features a world-class golf course, originally designed by Robert Trent Jones.
This is the first time that a hotel situated in the Dominican Republic receives this top international award. “Amanera Playa Grande” beat candidates from Germany, France, Spain, Poland, Egypt, Colombia, Panama and Mexico. It was the only hotel among 61 finalists in 32 countries to be nominated in three categories.
