Puerto Plata Receives 220,000 Cruise Ship Passengers

The Amber Cove Cruise Port, operated by Carnival Cruises, situated on the country’s north coast near the city of Puerto Plata, received 55 cruise ships with 220,341 passengers during the first six months of operations, announced the Ministry of Tourism.

Orfila Salazar, director of the Department of Tourism mystery cruise (Mitur) said that these operations contributed more than US $ 400 thousand in expenses cruise passengers in the region.

Salazar referred to the good prospects in the cruise segment for the Dominican Republic in general, especially after the recent participation of the country in SeaTrade, the most important fair of the industry held in Fort Lauderdale, with the participation of cruise ship companies from around the world.
