Neos Airlines recently opened a Milan-Samana route and which is scheduled to operate on Mondays at 7:15 p.m.
The Samana region, on the country’s northeast region, is the only place in the Caribbean where visitors can enjoy watching the pilgrimage the humpback whales carry out each year from the cold North Atlantic waters to the warm waters of Samana Bay.
Flight 185, from the Milan-Malpensa Airport, arrives every Monday at the President Juan Bosch (AISA) International Airport, in Samana. The airline uses a B767-300ER aircraft, with capacity for 284 passengers.
This flight will increase the number of European tourists traveling to the country, specifically to the Dominican Republic’s north coast. Between January-November, 2015, some 77,915 Italian nationals visited the country.
The Samana region, on the country’s northeast region, is the only place in the Caribbean where visitors can enjoy watching the humpback whales that annually visit the warm waters of the bay (between February and March) to mate and deliver their calf.
In 2009 the bays of Samana and Rincon joined the list of the world’s most beautiful bays.
Since then, the region has attracted the attention of the international community, especially the international press and tour operators.
