The Cap Cana resort, situated in the Punta Cana region, recently opened its brand new “Los Establos” equestrian sports center. In November, the center hosted the XXII World Paso Fino Competition 2015. The complex covers three million square meters and, according to its developers, it is a one of the finest equestrian centers in Latin America and the Caribbean.
The equestrian center provides enthusiasts with excellent training facilities as well as full veterinary services, quarantine facilities, and excellent security services. The complex covers three million square meters and is defined by its developers as an equestrian paradise.
“Los Establos” (The Stables) is the first project of its kind in the Dominican Republic and its facilities provide riding enthusiasts with the following options: jumping, polo, “paso fino,” racing, horse racing, “en duro” and cross country. There is also an excellent area for training and animal care.
Classes and Training Options
“Los Establos” has an excellent riding and polo schools for children, adolescents and adults, with certified teachers in the different equestrian disciplines.
When fully completed the complex will feature 250 stalls equipped to accommodate even the larger horses. There are currently 80 stalls available, all meeting international standards. Each stall, built with fine wood, occupies four square meters and has double height ceilings. The stall area is cool, resistant to sudden climate changes such as high temperatures and moisture. They also have fans to cool the area and minimize heat, and each stall has its own drainage system and security cameras.
All stables are equipped with rubber floors and mats in the center to further protect the horses. Lockers are available to store items and own teams of horses. As for the custody and care of the animals, the stables are equipped with sleeping areas to accommodate the grooms, who are in care of the horses 24 hours a day.
The club house features a conference center, an equestrian shop, cigar lounge, private rooms for various activities, a family restaurant, grill restaurant, game room, a sports massage spa, a children’s play area and a nurse’s station.
The Equestrian Club
The club offers two polo grounds, a riding school, polo school, a children’s gazebo, equestrian trails, a track and field area, jumping arena, among others.
Also, a one thousand meter long race track and an indoor air-conditioned riding arena equipped to host national and international equestrian events.
The complex is also equipped with a veterinary clinic, and quarantine facilities.
The Polo Club has special stables for up to 112 polo horses, a wide training track, and ample spaces for training practices.
