Thousands of International Tourists Visit North Coast City of Puerto Plata on Board Carnival Cruise Ships

The Fantasy cruise ship, with 2,056 tourists and 920 crew members on board, became the second cruise ship to arrive in the city’s brand new Amber Cove terminal, operated by the Carnival Cruises.

The Amber Cove terminal is situated in the Bay of Maimon, an easy 15 minutes away from downtown Puerto Plata, the north coast’s most important city.

The Fantasy followed the route begun earlier by the Victory cruise ship this past October 6, which arrived at Amber Cover with 2,754 passengers and a crew of 1,100.

The opening of Amber Cove cruise ship port promises to be an extraordinary boost to tourism in Puerto Plata.

The country’s tourism authorities have reported that the Carnival company will initially bring in some 350,000 passengers to Puerto Plata, between October 2015 through December 2016.
