In 2016 the Dominican Republic will host various important international summits and meetings, such as the 46th General Assembly of the Organization of American States (OAS); the Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC); and the CELAC- European Union Summit.
The first meeting will be in March 2016, when the CELAC Foreign Ministers will travel to the D.R., for its meeting. Another important meeting scheduled during the second half of July 2015 is the CELAC-European Union Summit, with the participation of 61 countries, and in January 2017 Santo Domingo will host the CELAC Summit.
The 46th OAS General Assembly will take place in Santo Domingo during the month of June 2016. The last time the country hosted this regional event was in 2009.
Dominican Foreign Minister Andres Navarro met with local tourism entrepreneurs to encourage them to work together so that all these events can contribute to the country’s solid international tourism image.
