JetBlue Airways added in June an additional flight to the New York-La Romana route, bringing to three the number of regular flights to La Romana, a top destination situated in the country’s eastern region.
Direct flights are on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays, leaving New York at 11:44 a.m. and departing La Romana at 4:29 p.m.
The United States is the main source of incoming tourists to the Dominican Republic.
During the first five months of the year some 832,632 U.S. tourists visited the country through local airports.
La Romana’s international airport is situated 20 minutes from downtown La Romana and 10 minutes from Casa de Campo, one of the Caribbean’s top resorts. The eastern city of La Romana has excellent access through a modern highway system to the beachfront community of Juan Dolio (40 minutes to the west); to the capital city of Santo Domingo (1.5 hours to the west); and 40 minutes from Punta Cana.
