National and international entrepreneurs, as well as future investors in the country’s tourism, infrastructure, manufacturing and general services will come together during the “Invest in Puerto Plata” Forum, scheduled for September 17 at the “Gran Ventana Hotel.”
The activity is organized by the Dominican Republic’s Center for Export and Investment (CEI-RD).
One of the Forum’s keynote speaker is Fabrice Grinda, the French entrepreneur and co-founder of FJ Labs and Angel Investor, who will speak on his business experience in the Dominican Republic.
Grinda is a world renowned businessman, with investments in some 150 international companies, such as the Alibaba Group, Airbnb, Dropbox and Ticketbis.
Throughout his career his business expertise has generated more than US$300 million. He is also the co-founder of the Aucland, Zingy and OLX companies.
The “Invest in Puerto Plata” Forum will include special seminars led by experts in their particular fields of expertise, public officials, and representatives from national and international related sectors. Other activities scheduled are panels, roundtable discussions and private meetings between interested parties.
The north coast city of Puerto Plata is one of the country’s most important tourism destinations.
It is also an important maritime, agro-industrial and manufacturing center.
During last year’s forum some 286 potential investors, from 40 countries, as well as 450 foreign and national entrepreneurs participated in the event.
During the 2014 event, held in Santo Domingo’s high-end Blue Mall Shopping Center, some 650 business meetings were organized and approximately US$570 million in business transactions were completed, with the creation of an estimated 17,400 direct jobs.
