Punta Cana is the fourth most popular destination among international tourists visiting Latin America and the Caribbean and is also on the list of the 50 most popular international cities, according to the latest MasterCard Global Destination Cities Index.
Punta Cana is by far the fastest growing Caribbean destination, and is expected to receive more than three million visitors during 2015, compared to 2.9 million in 2014.
And, just recently, Punta Cana was included on the list of the world’s 50 most visited cities, situated on the list between São Paulo and Chicago.
The annual Index of Global Destination, issued by MasterCard, publishes a list of the world’s most visited cities.
The report also publishes information on how tourists spend their money while in these particular destinations.
“MasterCard understands the importance of cities around the world both for travelers and for those who live there,” said Ann Cairns, President of International Markets for MasterCard.
“This year’s study helped us understand how interconnected the world’s cities are, and the important role they play in connecting large numbers of people.”
Since 2012 MasterCard provides visitors to Punta Cana with the Priceless Punta Cana Program, with unique offers and packages for its credit card users.
