The Dominican Republic has been included on the list of countries that continuously support their local tourism industry.
The country now appears on the list of compiled by the World Economic Forum on Tourism Competitiveness Travel and Tourism Index 2015.
The country is also included among the 40 destinations that give great priority to the travel and tourism sectors.
The D.R. is ranked in seventh place, surpassing Costa Rica, Mexico and Panama.
The Competitiveness Report Travel and Tourism Report ranks 141 countries in 14 different areas, and presents a detailed account of each nation on the list.
The report pinpoints the strengths and weaknesses of each particular country.
It also includes an extensive section with updated information on each of the areas included in the report.
The World Economic Forum is co-sponsored by the Strategy company, Bloom Consulting, Deloitte, the International Air Transport Association (IATA), the International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources (IUPN), the World Tourism Organization (WTO) and the World Travel and Tourism Council.
