The 300-room Renaissance Jaragua Hotel & Casino, one of the city’s most iconic hotels, will reopen its doors this coming month of June.
The hotel has been closed for more than a year undergoing a major refurbishing process valued at US$40 million.
An important goal of the refurbishing team has been to preserve the hotel’s historic essence, considered a 1940’s cultural icon.
According to Jose Castillo, the head of the hotel’s marketing and sales department, the newly refurbished hotel – situated in Santo Domingo’s beautiful seaside boulevard – will provide the national and international convention and conference sector a facility that will cater to all its needs.
The hotel will now feature 10 new meeting rooms and the La Fiesta Ballroom, with capacity for 1,200 guests.
The hotel’s 300 rooms have been completely redone, as well as its Executive Floor, presidential suites, the Garden Club and lush tropical gardens. The hotel has excellent parking facilities as well.
Just a few minutes away from the capital city’s historic Colonial Zone, the Renaissance Jaragua features a spacious outdoor swimming pool, tennis club, casino, a fitness center with high-tech equipment and a spa.
The original Jaragua Hotel was built in 1942, and re-launched in the early 1980s. The hotel is operated by the Marriott Renaissance chain of hotels.
