North Coast Town of Cabarete to Host International Jazz Day

Cabarete, also known as the “Windsurf Capital” of the Caribbean, will celebrate International Jazz Day by holding free concerts in some of the beachfront town’s poorer neighborhoods.

Students from the “Casa de Arte,” from the nearby community of Sosua, will provide the locals with the sounds of national and international jazz music. There will also be a concert at The Beach Club Restaurant, at Sea Horse Ranch.

At the same time the Dominican Republic Jazz Festival Foundation has announced that it will sponsor a concert at The Beach Club Restaurant, at the Sea Horse Ranch resort.

The concert is scheduled for April 30 at 6 p.m. Dominican jazz musician Rafelito Mirabal and his group will perform his Caribbean-blend jazz sound.

Proceeds from the concert will go to the Foundation’s music program in Cabarete.

UNESCO has declared April 30 as the International Day of Jazz.

The U.N. cultural institution is fully supporting the Jazz Day initiative in Cabarete.

The town of Cabarete is known throughout the world for its exceptional weather conditions, its dynamic water sports activities, and vibrant nightlife.

Cabarete is one of the country’s most popular destinations, for both young and old.

Cabarete, along with Sosua, its nearby neighbor, have been included on the list of the best five beach destinations to retire, according to the magazine U.S. News &World Report.

The Dominican Jazz Festival is celebrated annually in Cabarete, where some of the world’s top jazz musicians come together to celebrate this world-famous musical genre.
