Santo Domingo’s Top Five Hotels

The “Hostal Nicolas de Ovando MGallery” tops the list of Santo Domingo’s top five hotels.

Situated in the capital city’s Colonial Section, the hotel came in first because of its top-of-the-line services and many other exceptional qualities.

The rest of the list is comprised of the following city hotels: Occidental El Embajador Hotel, centrally located in one of Santo Domingo’s top locations; the Hilton Santo Domingo, situated in the capital city’s seaside boulevard; the Crowne Plaza Santo Domingo and the Renaissance Santo Domingo Jaragua Hotel & Casino. The last three hotels all overlook the majestic Caribbean Sea. The list was published by the magazine U.S. News & World Report.

In a special report, the magazine explains that the hotel is situated in Santo Domingo’s Colonial Section – declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO – and was built in what was once the former home of Nicolas de Ovando, the island’s first Colonial Governor. The hotel is currently operated by the Accord international group.

The article details the hotel’s exquisite historical ambience, and specifically reports on the 104-room facility with it spacious high-ceiling rooms, four-post beds, satellite TV and minibar.”

The hotel features a restaurant, two bars, beautiful colonial terraces and a swimming pool.

“Occidental El Embajador Hotel”

The 278-room hotel, one of Santo Domingo’s oldest, features two restaurants, two bars, a wine cellar, swimming pool, gymnasium, business center, meeting rooms, babysitting facilities and access to one of Santo Domingo’s finest golf course. The hotel recently became a member of the Preferred Hotels & Resorts, an international company specializing in luxury hotels.

Hilton Santo Domingo

Situated on scenic George Washington Avenue, or Santo Domingo’s seaside boulevard, the 228-room has a top-rated restaurant, bar, outdoor swimming pool, meeting facilities, business center and a gymnasium.

Crowne Plaza Santo Domingo

Also situated on George Washington Avenue, the 196-room hotel was recently renovated, including its two restaurants, two bars, and facilities for meetings and business and social events.
