The country currently heads the list of the five Caribbean countries that offer the “best tourism products,” according to the Tourism Quality Index 2014, compiled by the Canadian based Resonance Consultancy company.
The country competes with Puerto Rico, Cuba, Jamaica and Bahamas in the Tourism Quality Index 2014 category.
The survey classifies the best tourism attractions in the Caribbean, in twelve specific areas including hotels, entertainment, dining experiences, culture and performing arts, shopping, and many more.
The ratings and reviews posted by travelers on social media are the main source of information, says the study. Other considerations taken into account: crime and access to international flights.
The survey features an “absolute rating” of Caribbean destinations, based on the overall opinion of visitors to the region.
The Caribbean territories included in the study are: Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Aruba, Bahamas, Barbados, Bermuda, Bonaire, Cuba, Curacao, Dominica, Grenada, Guadeloupe, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, Martinique, Montserrat, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, St. Barthelemy, St. Martin, St. Maarten.
Also St. Lucia, St. Kitts and Nevis, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago, Cayman Islands, Turks and Caicos, British Virgin Islands and U.S. Virgin Islands
