The Dominican Republic was once again chosen as the “Best Golf Destination of the Caribbean” at the World Golf Awards 2014, recently held in Portugal.
Last year the Dominican Republic won – for a second consecutive year – the “Best Golf Destination of the Caribbean and Latin America” award, issued by the International Association of Golf Tour Operators (IAGTO).
The World Golf Awards distinguish excellence and best practices in the world of international golf tourism.
The awardees are selected by leading golf tourism professionals from around the world, as well as thousands of golfers in more than over 100 countries.
In 2013, and for a second consecutive year, the Dominican Republic was distinguished for being the “Best Golf Destination of the Caribbean and Latin America” by the International Association of Golf Tour Operators (IAGTO).
Today, the Dominican Republic boasts 26 golf courses, all spread out throughout the country’s most important tourism regions, such as: Punta Cana, La Romana, Juan Dolio, Santo Domingo, Santiago, Jarabacoa, Puerto Plata and Rio San Juan.
Twenty of the golf courses have been designed by world famous architects such as Jack Nicklaus, Pete Dye, Robert Trent Jones, Nick Faldo, PB Dye, Tom Fazio, Gary Player, José “Pepe” Gancedo, and Nick Price.
