Situated in the downtown section of Santo Domingo, every Monday evening the club features the country’s best merengue, salsa and bachata bands. International bands and singers are also featured.

The Spanish-language newspaper prepared a list of the best places in Santo Domingo to dance merengue, eat and drink the best natural fruit juices.

“El Pais” reveals that the Jet Set Club is the best place in Santo Domingo to dance away the night with merengue, bachata and many other Caribbean rhythms. On Mondays the Club brings its guests the best Caribbean music, featuring the best local and international bands.

Regarding the city’s best hotels, “El Pais” recommends – among others – the Accor Nicolas de Ovando, the Coco Boutique Hotel, “El Beatario,” the Holiday Inn Santo Domingo and the BQ Santo Domingo.

The recently published mini-guide also highlights the city’s top restaurants, such as: Adrian Tropical, specializing in fine Dominican dishes; Nipau; Moroconcoco; Asia Mia; and El Meson de Bari, in the Colonial Zone.

Also recommended: La Dolcerie, for the best brunches in the city and the Barra Payan, the country’s top sandwich stop.

According to the publication this typical cafeteria “is more than a sandwich shop, it is a 50-year old institution that has provided citizens with the best country’s best grill-cheese sandwiches and papaya milk shakes…”

For that special dining experience, “El Pais” recommends: Pat’e Palo Restaurant, La Cantina Agave and Maio House Bar, all in the Colonial Section.
