Wine Spectator Magazine Issues Awards to Four Dominican Restaurants

The Gourmond Restaurant, situated in the Sivory Punta Cana Boutique Hotel, received for a second consecutive year the “Award of Excellence 2014” issued by the prestigious Wine Spectator magazine.

Other restaurants distinguished by the magazine in the Dominican Republic: The Swiss Deli in the beachfront community of Guayacanes, situated some 45 minutes east of Santo Domingo, known for its excellent wine collection of Spanish, French, Chilean and Argentinian wine selection; “El Catador Wine Bar,” in Santo Domingo, specializing in California, French and Spanish wines; and “Pata de Palo,” in the capital city’s Colonial Section, with a fine selection of Spanish and California wines.

The Sivory Punta Cana is the only hotel in the country to receive the award, issued to similar establishments whose wine list and exquisite culinary menu are truly exceptional.

Restaurants from some 80 countries submitted entries.

The magazine states that the Gourmond Restaurant specializes in fine Spanish wines that are moderately priced, and that its menu offers an excellent mix of international dishes.

Sivory Punta Cana

The Sivory Punta Cana is a member of the Affluent Traveler Collection, a guide to fine living.

The 55-suite hotel features oceanfront Presidential, Deluxe, Junior and Honeymoon suites, with private balconies and teak terraces. The suites have private swimming pools and Jacuzzis.

The boutique hotel offers guests three restaurants, two bars, the Gourmond Restaurant’s wine cellar, and a smoking lounge. Also, the Aquarea Spa & Wellness Center, a fitness center and a hall for meetings and social events.
