Five Dominican Hotels Receive Green Globe Certification

Five hotels in the Dominican Republic were recently awarded the prestigious Green Globe Certificate, a world-famous certification process that requires the approval of 337 indicators related to energy savings practices, environmental awareness and strong ties to nearby communities.

The hotels awarded the Certificates are the Royalton Resorts & Casino Punta Cana; Memories Punta Cana Splash; Barcelo Bavaro Palace Deluxe; Barcelo Bavaro Beach Resort and the Barcelo Punta Cana Resort.

In the Dominican Republic the “green” hotels are the Royalton Punta Cana Resorts & Casino; Memories Splash Punta Cana; Barcelo Bavaro Beach Resort; Barcelo Bavaro Palace Deluxe; Barcelo Bavaro Beach Resort and Barcelo Punta Cana Resort.

Royalton Resorts & Casino Punta Cana

The hotel, in operation since 2013, received its certificate in July of 2013. A member of the Blue Diamond Hotels & Resorts chain, the facility is an all-inclusive luxury featuring 485-luxury beachfront rooms. The hotel is more than family oriented, and has an exclusive adults-only area.

Memories Splash Punta Cana

Owned and operated by Blue Diamond Hotels & Resorts, the hotel was certified in July of 2013. Its 525-room features all-inclusive service and is family-oriented. The hotel also features a water park. The Royalton and the Memories Splash are located within the same complex in Punta Cana and share various facilities, including the water park.

Barcelo Bavaro Beach Resort

This all-inclusive resort is integrated by the 584-room adults-only Barcelo Bavaro Beach Resort hotels and the 1,402-room Barcelo Bavaro Palace Deluxe. The resort also features a modern convention center, a world-class golf course and a water park. It received its Green Globe certificate in November 2013.

This all-inclusive 789-room resort also features seven restaurants; a world-class spa; kids’ club and several conveniently located bars.

Green Globe

This is the global certification for sustainable tourism. The organization’s goal is to promote energy and water-saving policies, and encourage ties with local communities and their environment. Currently, the organization is working in 83 countries and is a member of the Global Sustainable Tourism Council, which is co-sponsored by the World Tourism Organization.
