Dominican Flavors Blending With International Cuisine

In order to promote the best of Dominican cuisine, chefs from Santo Domingo’s leading hotels recently launched the “Gala Dinner in the Capital City,” an exciting new initiative that brings together the flavors and aromas of Dominican cuisine with top world-renowned dishes. The event is organized by the Hotel Association of Santo Domingo.

Chefs from some of Santo Domingo’s most important hotels are scheduled to participate, such as top chefs from hotels Barceló Santo Domingo, Nicolas de Ovando, Sheraton Santo Domingo, Dominican Fiesta, Hilton Santo Domingo, Plaza Naco, Crowne Plaza and Holiday Inn.

The event has been scheduled for August 20, beginning at 8:00 p.m., at the Sheraton Hotel’s Main Ballroom.

The event will benefit the Hotel Serrania Vocational School in the mountain town of Jarabacoa.

The Gala Dinner will feature four local restaurants which will prepare innovative dishes by bringing together Dominican cuisine with European, Latin American, Asian and Arab culinary traditions.

Event organizers hope to encourage the continuous development of high Dominican cuisine and which is currently being offered in most major restaurants in local hotels. Participation in the Gala Dinner event is US$115.
