The Tortuga Bay Hotel, a member of the Puntacana Group, was recognized by the Cristal International Standards company for its high standards applied in the handling of its food services.
The award is issued by the Cristal International Standards company after evaluating and auditing the food hygiene systems of international hotels.
In place since 1997, the company carries out 22,000 annual evaluations and audits in hotel facilities in more than 50 countries.
The Tortuga Bay is a boutique hotel featuring 13 luxury beachfront villas, all designed by world-famous Dominican-American designer Oscar de la Renta.
The facility is a member of the Leading Hotels of the World brand and the only hotel in the Dominican Republic to receive a Five-Diamond rating by the Automobile Association of America (AAA).
The hotel also received the U.S. World Report 2013 award as the best hotel in the Caribbean, surpassing some 250 hotels that were evaluated during the nomination process.
With more than 1,500 members in more than 50 countries, and 18 offices spread all over the world, Cristal International has trained 250,000 food handlers and continues to provide annual technical training for some 27,000 employees working in the tourism industry.
