Punta Cana has been included on the list of the world’s top ten places with the highest number of reservations, according to travel agents from the United States. The “Hot Spots” list is prepared each year by the American Society of Travel Agents (ASTA), which includes over 150 cities from around the world.
The Society represents 80% of all U.S. travel agents, who provide all the necessary information to prepare the final list.
The top ten cities represent 37% of all reservations made during 2014. The cities included on the list: Rome, London and Paris (8 %), Cancun (5%), Punta Cana (3%), Barcelona (1%), Riviera Maya (1%), Amsterdam (1%), Madrid (1%) and Montego Bay (1 %).
Zane Kerby, ASTA president and CEO, said that “although the majority of many of these destinations have remained relatively unchanged for many years, it is interesting to see that so many new destinations are being included on the list.“
New additions include: Yerevan, Armenia, and Johannesburg, South Africa, both listed as exotic and different places.

The information gathered to prepare the list was carried out by the ASTA Research Family unit during February 2014.
