The classic and iconic “Hotel Occidental El Embajador” recently underwent a five million dollar overhaul. The hotel renewed and modernized all its facilities and furnishings, including rooms, bar, restaurant, private meeting rooms, beautiful outdoor terrace and lobby area.
Built in 1956, the hotel’s refurbishing process has faithfully respected the facility’s original classic design and the city’s rich history while adding modern colors and tones to the overall decor.
The new lobby now features a “Gastro & Wine Bar,” supported by a modern wine and champagne cellar and offering traditional Spanish tapas and Caribbean fusion cuisine, all served in a cosmopolitan and elegant ambience.
The renovation program also included the complete refurbishing of 61 high-end bedrooms, and 104 rooms and suites belonging to the Ambassador’s Club. An additional 22 rooms and five suites, part of the Royal Club, were also completely overhauled.
The 278-room five-star hotel is situated in one of Santo Domingo’s most exclusive neighborhoods, close to the city’s most important business and shopping centers. The hotel features two bars, two restaurants, a business center, free Wi-Fi service, meeting rooms with capacity for 700, swimming pool, a spa and casino.
