“Casa Veintiuno” Among the Best Boutique Hotels in the Caribbean

The Boutique Hotel B & B “Casa Veintiuno,” situated in Sosua, a quiet coastal village in the country’s north coast, has been included in the list of the 25 best boutique hotels in the Caribbean by the online travel site Tripadvisor.

This is the third consecutive year that the “Casa Veintiuno” boutique hotel has made TripAdvisor’s “Travelers Choice Awards 2014.”

In 1938 the Dominican government offered asylum to a group of Jewish citizens fleeing from Nazi Europe and Sosua was chosen as the final destination for these individuals.

TripAdvisor readers chose the hotel as one of the finest family hotels in the north coast village of Sosua, as well as the best hotel in its category for the entire region. The hotel’s restaurant also appears on the list of the North Coast’s finest restaurants for 2013.

Situated some five minutes from the village and stunning beach, the B & B Boutique Hotel “Casa Veintiuno” has been defined as a small but truly elegant resort, offering guests many wonderful amenities.

The hotel features three rooms: a standard double, a suite and a suite-jacuzzi, a swimming pool, restaurants, Internet and tour facilities.

Also, a bar and lush gardens where guests can enjoy a fine tropical cocktail to drinks made with fresh local fruit.

The nearby beach offers excellent facilities for scuba diving, fishing and other water sports.

The Restaurant

Owners Saskia and Marc, both Belgian nationals, only use fresh produce and ingredients in the hotel.  They even make their own bread.

The menu can vary from month to month, depending on the season.  However, their menu always features delicious seafood dishes, always accompanied by a fine selection of wine.

The once sleepy coastal village of Sosua, situated in the Dominican Republic’s scenic north coast, attracted international attention in 1938 when dozens of Jewish immigrants – seeking refuge from Nazi Europe – were granted asylum by the Dominican government to settle in this remote rural village.
