Cabarete, Surfing Capital of the Caribbean Will Host Competition


Situated on the country’s north coast, this coastal village has become the Caribbean’s surfing capital.  In the upcoming 12th annual “Master of the Ocean 2014” competition, scheduled from February 22-27, some 40 local and international athletes will participate in these aquatic sports. The event will be held in “Playa Encuentro,” in Cabarete.

The very favorable climate conditions in the country’s north coast allow sports enthusiasts to practice their favorite sports in one single destination.  Teams from Spain, Germany, the US, Puerto Rico, several Scandinavian countries and Italy, as well as other nations, are expected to confirm their participation.

Aside from the action generated by the competition, the program will also provide participants with a host of activities including a very active nightlife.  The competition will close on February 27, the National Independence Day, with a closing ceremony properly titled “Independence.”
