Sosúa-Cabarete Region, on the North Coast, a Popular Destination for Retirees

232_c02The north coast towns of Sosua and Cabarete, situated outside the city of Puerto Plata, appear on a recent list of the five best beach destinations in the world to retire.  The list was prepared for the U.S. News magazine by renowned real estate expert Kathleen Peddicord.

According to the magazine, the Dominican north coast is the perfect place to relax.  Both towns are surrounded to the north by the crystal-clear waters of the Atlantic Ocean and to the south by majestic tropical mountains.  It is the perfect place to get away from large concrete buildings and crowds.

The magazine also says the overall ambience in both ocean-side towns is relaxed and carefree, where visitors and residents alike can truly enjoy the wonders offered in the region by Mother Nature.

Real-estate expert Kathleen Peddicord is the author of the book “How to Buy Real Estate Overseas,” a complete guide on how to purchase property abroad.  The book sums up her 28-year experience in the real estate business.

According to Ms. Peddicord, buying property in Sosua or Cabarete is an excellent investment because it is currently a developing area that offers luxurious options at very good prices (from US$400,000 to US$800,000), and more affordable options that can range from US$130,000 to US$ 150,000.

Other destinations included in this list: Panama, Vietnam, Belize and Thailand.
