Seaborne Airlines will begin regular flights beginning this December between San Juan, Puerto Rico, and La Romana’s international airport, in the eastern region of the Dominican Republic. Jet Blue also announced a new daily flight between Punta Cana and Fort Lauderdale, with stops in Montego Bay, Jamaica.
Initial flights are scheduled to operate on Thursdays and Saturdays. Beginning in March 2014, the schedule will expand to daily flights. Gary Foss, the airline’s president and CEO said that La Romana is the first destination for Seaborne in the Dominican Republic.
The airline, based in the Virgin Islands, currently serves Vieques, Puerto Rico, as well as the Caribbean islands of St. Thomas, St. Croix, Tortola, Virgin Gorda , Dominica, Martinique and Guadeloupe.
Fort Lauderdale-Punta Cana Flights
The U.S. airline JetBlue also announced daily flight between Punta Cana and Fort Lauderdale, with stops in Montego Bay, Jamaica, beginning May 1, 2014. Flights from Punta Cana are scheduled to depart at 11:20 a.m. and from Fort Lauderdale, departing at 2:40 p.m.
