Already, the Dominican Republic boasts an active 2013 agenda, packed with cultural and tourism-related activities, as well as concerts, trade and fashion fairs. Events to look for:
Rally Frontera (Border Rally)
In February, some one thousand drivers from Germany, Italy, Haiti and Puerto Rico will compete in the XIV annual “Frontera 4×4 Adventure Rally 2013.” This year the event will be held in honor of the bicentennial of the Dominican Republic’s founding father, Juan Pablo Duarte. Participants will compete along the 1,200 kilometers that make up the Dominican/Haitian border.
Congress of Music, Identity and Culture in the Caribbean
The Leon Jimenes Cultural Center in Santiago, the country’s second largest city, will celebrate the Fifth Congress of Music, Identity and Culture in the Caribbean. The activity will be held from April 12 to 14 and, among other subjects, it will analyze the development of music and dance folklore in the countries and territories in the Caribbean Basin.
Dominican Bridal Week
This annual event will be held from April 18 to 21 at the Hotel Renaissance Jaragua, in downtown Santo Domingo. The popular “Bridal Week” event brings together all those involved in this important industry.
Dominican Annual Tourism Exchange (DATE)
International tour operators, travel agents and tourism professionals will come together from April 23 to 25 at the Convention Center of the Barceló Bávaro Beach Hotel to celebrate the XIV Dominican Annual Tourism Exchange (DATE).
National and international representatives from the tourism industry come together to discuss all sorts of business ventures related to the sector.
“Vacaciones CTN Expoferia.”
This event, also related to the country’s tourism industry, is scheduled to be held from May 17-19, at the Hotel Renaissance Jaragua.
Caribbean Tourism Exchange
The XXVIth Caribbean Tourism Exchange is scheduled for June in Santo Domingo’s Dominican Fiesta Hotel.
ASONAHORES Trade Show
In September, the Barceló Bávaro Beach Convention Center will once again be the venue for the XXVIIth annual Association of Hotels and Tourism of the Dominican Republic convention. The event will bring together the main suppliers of the hotel and restaurant industries in the country.
In September, the “El Embajador” Occidental Hotel will, once again, be host to the country’s most important fashion extravaganza. The event is filled with music, color, and impressive fashion runways where national and international designers will present their products to an enthusiastic audience.
