Dominican Republic: best golf destination in the Caribbean and Latin America

For the second consecutive year, the Dominican Republic was given the award for “Best Golf Destination of the Caribbean and Latin America.” The award was issued by the Association of Golf Tour Operators (IAGTO). Some 450 tour operators – generating 85% of all golf tours in the world and representing 59 countries – participated in a recent survey carried out by the Association.

The award was received by Petra Cruz, director of the Ministry of Tourism’s European Department. Ms. Cruz headed the Dominican delegation that participated in the International Tourism Golf Fair (IGTM), held in the Portuguese town of Vilamoura, November 12-15.

Participants considered various factors that are important to golf lovers, such as overall satisfaction, quality of the golf courses, facilities, quality/price ratio, and accessibility.
