Registration is now open for the sixth annual “Cigar Festival” of the Dominican Republic.
The event will be held from February 17-22, 2013 in Santiago, the Cigar Capital of the Caribbean and the country’s second largest city.
The event will also be held in the city of La Romana, on the country’s eastern region, and famous for its world-renowned golf courses.

The first part of the Festival will be held from February 17-19 in Casa de Campo, one of the Caribbean’s most important luxury resorts.
The second half will be held in the centrally-located city of Santiago, from February 19-22 at the Hotel Gran Almirante.
During the festival 16 famous cigar brands will be represented. The organizers encourage anyone who wants to participate to register at www.procigar.org.
As is the tradition, the first part of the program will be held in Casa de Campo, the world-renowned resort, from February 17-19.
The second half of the Festival will be held, in Santiago from February 19 to 22 at the Gran Almirante Hotel.
Participants include consumers and business representatives from cigar-related companies in the United States and Europe.
In La Romana, on the country’s eastern region, the program will feature a golf tournament at the world-famous Teeth of the Dog golf course, situated in Casa de Campo.
Participants will also have the opportunity to relax on the beach, take a tour of the “Tabacalera de Garcia,” one of the finest in the region, as well as participate in many other activities.
In Santiago, the country’s second largest city, the program will include a visit to various cigar factories and tobacco plantations owned by General Cigar, Davidoff, Matasa and “La Aurora.”
A special tour of the Brugal rum factory in Puerto Plata, one of the country’s finest, will also be scheduled.
Other features will include seminars, sailing tours of the beautiful Dominican north coast, and the practice of extreme sports for the adventure-loving participant.
The Dominican Republic is a leading manufacturer of handmade cigars, and the city of Santiago is the heart of the Dominican tobacco culture and industry.
