Dominicus “La Laguna” beach certified as Blue Flag

Situated in Bayahibe, on the country’s eastern region, “La Laguna” was recently certified as an International Blue Flag beach by the Blue Flag jury.

The certification is awarded to beaches that meet stringent environmental, safety and cleanliness controls.

When the blue flag is displayed it means that the beach is clean, secure and constantly monitored for water quality and services.

Blue Flag beaches also require the regular monitoring of surrounding coral reefs by Reef Check, and mandatory life guards every 100 meters.

The Blue Flag program is run by the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE), a not for profit international organization, whose goal it is to provide an effective pro-environment management of beaches.
