Tourism trade fair to be held in September in Punta Cana

For the past 15 years the country’s most important Tourism Trade Fair, organized by the Association of Hotels and Tourism of the Dominican Republic (Asonahores), has been held in Santo Domingo, the country’s capital city.

This year, however, the event is moving to Punta Cana, on the country’s easternmost region. The Tourism Trade Fair is scheduled to take place September 27-29 at the Barceló Bávaro Convention Center.

The fair will be dedicated to Dominican tourism pioneer Frank Ranieri, head of the Puntacana Resort & Club and founder of Punta Cana’s international airport.

The fair is sponsored by the Ministry of Tourism, the “Banco Popular Dominicano,” and “Aeropuertos Siglo 21” (AERODOM). For more information on the event, and how to register, please visit

The 1991-room Barceló Bávaro Beach Resort & Convention Center consists of two hotels, a modern Convention Center, a golf course and a wide array of dining facilities and aquatic activities.

The complex is situated in Bávaro Beach, one of the Dominican Republic’s most important beaches.

The Convention Center is by far the largest and most modern in the Dominican Republic, and one of the largest in the Caribbean.

The 11,500 square-foot facility features 13 halls, each offering different characteristics depending on the demands of the event organizers.

In turn, the rooms are subdivided into 24 conference rooms that can accommodate from 20 to five thousand individuals.

The Center has hosted national and international events, such as the Ibero-American Summit, attended by Heads of State and Government from Spain and Latin America.

It has also hosted the Dominican Republic’s most important tourism fair, organized by the Association of Hotels and Tourism of the Dominican Republic. For further information:
