Nobel Laureate Mario Vargas Llosa to visit the Dominican Republic

Peruvian writer Mario Vargas Llosa, the 2010 Nobel Laureate in Literature, will once again visits the Dominican Republic.

This time, he will visit Santo Domingo in order to attend the opening of his play “At the Foot of the Thames.” The play is scheduled to open on November 15 at the popular “Casa de Teatro,” in Santo Domingo’s Colonial Section.

The play was first performed at the theater of the Peruvian-British Cultural Center in Lima, in March 2008. The renowned writer often visits the Dominican Republic, the country that inspired his award-winning novel “The Feast of the Goat,” on the live of former Dominican dictator Rafael Trujillo.
