Considered by Conde Nast Traveler magazine as one of the 10 best beaches in the Caribbean, offering three miles of pure white sand and exuberant vegetation, Playa Rincon, in the northeast province of Samaná is the ideal place to enjoy nature in a quiet and very relaxing setting.
There are currently no major tourism projects in or around Playa Rincon, but the beach is a short distance away from “Las Galeras,” an old fishing village situated on the very tip of the Samaná Peninsula.
In the past few years “Las Galeras” has developed into an attractive tourism destination dominated by smaller hotels such as the “Aparta-Hotel Las Galeras” and “Villa Serena.” It also features the 400-room Amhsa Marina Hotels & Resorts facility.
Visitors can travel to “Playa Rincon” from “Las Galeras” either by road (35 minutes) or by small boats (20 minutes).
There are only three very rustic restaurants on this idyllic beach, all run and managed by the locals.
In spite of the restaurant’s plain ambience they offer some of the finest – and certainly the freshest – seafood in the region. Fresh fish, shrimp and lobster, as well as other seafood dishes, are served with local side dishes.
Coconut-based seafood is the region’s specialty, accompanied by rice and beans Dominican style.
