Expedia reservations to the Dominican Republic up by 12%

Expedia, the world’s largest online travel agency, announced that during 2011 it experienced a 12 percent increase in the number of reservations to the Dominican Republic through its global network of more than 140 booking sites on the Internet.

The increase includes its brands Expedia ®; Hotels.com ®; Hotwire ®; Egencia® – specializing in corporate travel – and its Expedia® Affiliate Network, with over 10,000 partner sites.

“In 2011, Expedia sent more than 1.2 million travelers to the islands of the Caribbean, with the Dominican Republic leading the market in terms of demand,” said Marco Tagliatti, VP of Product for Latin America and the Caribbean.

Half of all travel bookings were made from U.S. sites.
