AmBev brewery purchases dominican “Presidente” beer

The Brazilian brewery AmBev has become the major stockholder of the Dominican company that produces “Presidente” beer, considered by experts to be one of the best in the world.

“Presidente” beer has become an icon of Dominican culture.

It is the most popular and most sought-after beer in the country. “Presidente” currently controls 90 percent of the local market and it is the third largest-selling imported beer in the United States.

The beer is also exported to 14 islands in the Caribbean, as well as to Europe.  In the United States it is sold in Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Tennessee and Washington, D.C.

AmBev is the leading brewery in Latin America.  It is associated with the Anheuser-Busch InBev, the world’s leading brewery, selling over 200 brands in 23 countries. In the Dominican Republic AmBev owns the Brahma brand.
