The Dominican Republic to participate in Moscow 2012 tourism fair


The country is scheduled to participate in the Moscow International Exhibition Travel and Tourism fair (MITT 2012), which will take place from March 21-24.

The event is to be held at the Krasnaya Presnya Expo Center.

The Fair is the largest travel and tourism exhibition in Russia, with more than three thousand companies participating and offering 185 destinations.

Dominican delegation will be headed by the Minister of Tourism and representatives from 13 hotel and tourism-oriented companies.

Currently Russia is the hottest market for Dominican tourism. Some 12 weekly flights from Russia are arriving at Punta Cana’s International Airport.

Last year 120,000 Russians visited the Dominican Republic, representing a 58% growth over previous years.  Russian airliners flying to the Dominican Republic are Transaero and Aeroflot

The event promotes the offering of creative and cultural tourism, and is designed to attract professionals and world-class travelers from Russia and the Russian Federation, including the Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Georgia, Armenia, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzsta, as well as Moldova and Eastern Europe.
